Replace the criteria templates of one list (kind ac or dod) of a project, or of one epic (epic: its key): the items an issue gets a copy of when it is created (project owner only). items is the whole list in order: an item with the id of an existing template keeps it, one without is new, an existing template you leave out is archived (issues keep their copies). types limits an item to those issue types (epic, story, task; empty or absent: every type). Project templates apply to every issue of the project, an epic's to the stories and tasks under it. At most 50 templates per list. Templates only matter while the project has that list on (update_project). The answer lists the templates with their ids.
